INDIA. New Delhi: MNS President Raj Thackeray slammed AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi in regards to the Nupur Sharma comment row.
“When Nupur Sharma’s comments drew criticism, others were asked to apologise on her behalf but when Owaisi spoke about Hindu gods in public speeches, others did not apologise.”
Thackeray also asked if the countries that had protested against the suspended BJP leader’s remarks apologised for comments on Hindu gods.
In a recent interview, Thackeray said, “Nupur Sharma said what she had heard about Prophet Mohammad. When Owaisi talks about our gods here in public speeches, do others apologise? Did the countries which protested apologize?”
“Owaisi has spoken about whatever he wants about Hindu gods,” he said.
On July 19, the Supreme Court sent letters to the respondents and ordered that “no coercive action” be taken against her.
Nupur Sharma, a former BJP spokesperson, is requesting a stay of proceedings before being arrested in relation to the FIRs filed against her for allegedly making hateful comments towards the Prophet Muhammad and Islam.
Sharma has asked for permission to combine all of the FIRs that have been filed against her across the nation. She claimed that following the top court’s harsh judgement of her, her life has once again been threatened as well as rape threats.
Sharma has asked that all FIRs at other locations be combined with the Delhi FIR because the initial FIR against her was filed there.
On July 1, the Supreme Court harshly criticised Sharma, claiming that she alone is to blame for the current state of the nation due to “her loose tongue” and “setting the entire country on fire.”
The FIRs are connected to Sharma’s remarks on the Prophet Muhammad during a debate on a TV news program.
