Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the new President.
“India scripts history. At a time when 1.3 billion Indians are marking Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a daughter of India hailing from a tribal community born in a remote part of eastern India has been elected our President! Congratulations to Smt. Droupadi Murmu Ji on this feat”.
Murmu is an Orissa native, from Rairangpur town in Mayubhanj. Many women from Orissa who mostly pluck tea lined up their baskets of tea leaves on the road in the tea gardens and danced and sang their native songs to celebrate her victory. The entire country is overloaded with happiness and waiting for the new President to take the oath.
Murmu has come a very long way to make this happen. She overcame several obstacles while being from a tribal society. Murmu handled every situation, whether it was on the personal or professional front, with tolerance and utmost honesty.
