INDIA: The sequel to the 2015 hit crime thriller, Drishyam 2 gets the official release date. The film, starring Ajay Devgan, Tabu, and Shriya Saran, is slated to be released in theatres on November 18, 2022.
Released in 2015, Drishyam is an official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, which starred Mohanlal. In 2021, the sequel to the original Malayalam film was released on Amazon Prime Video, resulting in one of the rare thriller sequels that outperformed the first film in every way. After a few months after its OTT release, the film was distributed in theatres in Qatar, Oman, and the United Arab Emirates.
Ajay Devgan announces the release date
Ajay Devgan made the announcement with a title poster on his Instagram account. The post was captioned, “Attention! #Drishyam 2 releasing in theatres on 18th November 2022.” In addition to the original cast members, Akshaye Khanna joins the cast of Drishyam 2. Tabu announced the entry of the talented Bollywood star on her Instagram account in April. She captioned a photo of herself welcoming Akshaye, “Delighted to have a gem of an actor on board for #Drishyam2.”
Abhishek Pathak, known for the 2009 National Award-winning short film Boond, helms this crime thriller. Abhishek is also renowned for the 2019 film Ujda Chaman and his production banner films Khuda Haafiz and Khuda Haafiz: Chapter II-Agni Pariksha.
Drishyam (2015) follows the rollercoaster of thrilling notions
Drishyam revolved around Vijay Salgaonkar, a cheerful cable service provider in Goa who lives with his wife Nandini and two daughters, Anju and Anu. When a terrible incident befalls the Salgaonkar family, it challenges Vijay to the extreme, putting his morality to the test and forming the crux of this crime thriller.
The film was directed by Nishikant Kamat and starred Ajay Devgan, Tabu, and Shreya Saran in the lead roles, while it stars Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta, and Mrunal Jadhav in the supporting roles. The film grossed a worldwide box office collection of around 110 crores on a budget of 38 crores, which landed the crime thriller in the hit category.
