INDIA: The film RRR, directed by S.S. Rajamouli, will be released in theatres in two days. The mega-budget and mega-starrer starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, which has been postponed multiple times, is finally set to release.
Following its release on March 25, the hashtag #BoycottRRRinKarnataka has been trending on Twitter for a few hours.
People are expressing frustration because the Kannada dubbed version of RRR is not getting a wide release in Karnataka, whereas the Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi versions are being given more screens in comparison.
Boycott RRR trends in Karnataka
RRR, starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan, will be released on March 25, 2022, in five regional languages. The film directed by S.S. Rajamouli will be released in Telegu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
The film was initially scheduled to be released on January 7, 2022, but it was repeatedly postponed due to COVID constraints, and it will now be released in two days.
Sir Rajamouli is involved in the film, and it will be his first feature after Bahubali: The Conclusion, released in 2017. So, it was expected that there would be such a tremendous buzz about the film, and the way teasers for each character were being released, the excitement among fans was growing day by day.
However, since yesterday, the hashtag #BoycottRRRinKarnataka has been trending on Twitter. Fans are outraged that the Kannada dubbed version of the film was given fewer screenings.
Netizens are enraged since the Kannada dubbed version has received less attention than the other dubbed versions. More screens have been allocated for the premiere of the Telegu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi versions, causing uproar on social media.
