AFGHANISTAN. Herat: A group of children has called for peace between the government and the Taliban. They have asked the anti-government groups to cease the war, by performing circus shows in Herat city.
According to Afghan Circus officials, Circus shows and training are held in major provinces of Afghanistan including Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad, Bamyan, and Ghor.
In the Western Herat province of Afghanistan, Herat Circus has become a path for the growth in the communication talents of children.
Jalil-Ahmad Norzai, director of Afghanistan Circus Office of Education and Training said that the shows are held to promote peace and stop the war in the country. “300 children were performing the national songs and Circus shows and Gymnastic to display their abhorrence toward war, ” he said.

Several children who attended the Circus shows in Herat were heard saying “donate peace with peace and put the guns down”. Anita Faizi, a member of it Afghanistan Circus team of Education and Training said that she is “tired” of war. Most of the children were carrying the placards written with ‘Let our Mothers have no worries when getting out home’.
“I am afraid of explosion and suicide attacks, I love peace,” she added.
Hundreds of children like Anita are tired of war and losing loved ones. Ilyass, a twelve-year-old who attended as a member of the Herat Circus team told Transcontinental Times that his dreams will come into reality under peace shadow.
“I wish there be built a Cinema in Herat to show my talents to others. The success of my wishes depends on the advent of peace in Afghanistan,” he said.
Eight-year-old girl Somaya has asked the anti-government arms groups to stop the war. She believes that war has devastated the country and her future.
Children are one of the most vulnerable segments of Afghanistan society. Now they are calling for peace for the first time by performing shows that they believe carry peace messages.
A group of children interviewed by Transcontinental times said they are worried about their future and the government must be careful and push toward the halt of war in the country.
Meanwhile, MMCC of the Netherlands is sending a big container full of social circus equipment to Afghanistan. Thousands of children and youth will be enjoying and having fun both as artists and audience.
Two years after the start of peace talks on the Afghanistan war, Afghans believe they still do not access a clear image of the peace talks.
Meanwhile, the Intra-Afghan peace talks resumed again a month after it was stalled due to issues raised by the Taliban’s side.
